Know what Christians have believed, and why
Christianity has a long, global, and sometimes contested history. Pistizo is built to make that history easier to follow without flattening its complexity. It brings together primary texts, historical context, concise explanations, and tools for following connections across time.
It is designed for curious readers, students, teachers, and churches: anyone who wants a dependable starting point for questions about Scripture, doctrine, councils, traditions, and Christian life.
Where Pistizo stands
Pistizo is written by Christians who confess the Nicene Creed and the Chalcedonian Definition. Traditions that differ, including the Oriental Orthodox churches, which do not receive Chalcedon, are described in their own terms.

How we approach the material
Historical care
Dates, texts, councils, and biographical claims should be traceable to reliable primary sources or recognised scholarship. Where evidence is uncertain, the uncertainty belongs in the entry.
Fairness across traditions
Catholic, Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Protestant, and other Christian traditions should be described in their own terms before they are compared or criticised.
Precision in disagreement
“Heresy” is not a catch-all for every theological disagreement. Pistizo uses it for teachings formally judged incompatible with the faith by the relevant historic church or communion, and names other disputes more carefully.
The global church
Christianity has never been only European or North American. Its centres have included Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America.
Accessible depth
Articles should explain specialist language without assuming a seminary education, while preserving the distinctions that matter.

Using this site well
A guide, not a substitute for the sources
Pistizo summarises difficult material to help readers find their bearings. It does not replace the Bible, historic creeds, conciliar documents, confessions, or careful study with qualified teachers and scholars. When traditions disagree, readers should consult the texts and communities themselves.
The Scripture explorer follows the 66-book Protestant canon and labels that scope explicitly. The separate canon guide compares Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Protestant collections so that one tradition is not treated as the unnamed default.

The guided path takes you through five steps in order: meet Jesus, open the Bible, learn what Christians believe, see how that belief was worked out in history, and understand why churches differ. Each step gives you the vocabulary and context you need for the next.
